SimSIM requires two things from your phone: eSIM capability and a network-unlocked status. Before you purchase a plan, take a minute to confirm both. If you buy a plan and then scan (activate) the QR code without checking first, you may find you’re unable to use the eSIM on your device — and at that point a refund is no longer possible.
Once you scan (activate) your QR code, the eSIM is considered delivered and refunds are not possible. Verify compatibility before purchasing.

eSIM-compatible iPhones

The following iPhone models support eSIM:
  • iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR
  • iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max
  • iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max
Note: iPhone 14 and later models sold in the United States are eSIM-only — they do not have a physical SIM tray at all.

eSIM-compatible Android phones

Many popular Android flagships support eSIM, including:
  • Google Pixel: Pixel 3 and later
  • Samsung Galaxy: S20 series and later (most models — availability varies by region)
  • Motorola: Selected Razr and Edge series flagships
  • Huawei: Selected P and Mate series models (where Google services apply)
  • Sony: Selected Xperia flagships
  • OnePlus: Selected flagship models
eSIM availability can vary by region, carrier variant, and specific model. The most reliable way to confirm is to check your phone directly: go to Settings and look under SIM cards or Mobile network for an Add eSIM option. If you see it, your device is eSIM-capable.

Network-unlocked requirement

Your phone must be unlocked from your carrier. If you bought your phone directly from a carrier on a contract, contact them to request an unlock before traveling.
A carrier-locked phone can only use SIMs from that specific carrier, which means a SimSIM eSIM won’t activate on it. Unlocking is usually free once your contract conditions are met — contact your carrier’s customer support to request it.

How to check if your phone supports eSIM

1

iOS

Go to Settings → General → About. Scroll down and look for Available SIMs or an eSIM entry. If you see it, your iPhone supports eSIM.
2

Android

Go to Settings → Network & internet (or Connections on Samsung). Tap SIM cards and look for an Add eSIM or Download SIM option. If the option is present, your device supports eSIM.
