After you purchase a plan, SimSIM sends a QR code to your email. You scan that code to install the eSIM profile onto your phone. Do this before you travel — once the profile is installed, the eSIM activates automatically when you arrive in the destination country and your phone connects to the local network.
Install your eSIM before you leave home. You need a Wi-Fi or mobile data connection to complete the installation. Do not try to activate at the airport without a connection.

Steps

1

Find your QR code

Open your email and locate the SimSIM order confirmation — it contains your unique eSIM QR code.
2

Open SIM settings on your phone

On iOS: Go to Settings → Cellular → Add Cellular Plan, then point your camera at the QR code.On Android: Go to Settings → Network & internet → SIM cards → Add eSIM, then scan the code.
3

Download and install the eSIM profile

Follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the eSIM profile onto your device.
4

Configure your data line

When asked to set a default for data, keep your regular SIM as the default for calls and SMS, and set SimSIM as your data line — or follow the prompts after installation to make this change in your SIM settings.
5

Travel and connect

Head to your destination. SimSIM connects to the local network automatically when you land — no manual switching required.

Setting your data line

After installing, go to your phone’s SIM settings and set SimSIM as your data SIM. Keep your regular SIM active for calls and texts so you don’t miss anything while you’re away.

Turning off data roaming on your main SIM

To avoid unexpected roaming charges from your home carrier, disable data roaming on your regular SIM while abroad. SimSIM will handle all your data needs.
