# Manage your data

> Check remaining data and validity, and understand how usage updates and alerts work.

Open an active eSIM to see **Data left** and **Time left**. The eSIM details screen also shows the network and package information.

## Usage updates

Usage is reported by the network provider and may lag behind actual usage. A short delay does not necessarily mean that the eSIM is not working.

## When data runs out

The app marks the eSIM as **Data used**. If top-up is available, use **Top up data** on the eSIM details screen. Otherwise, buy a new plan.

## Reduce data usage

* Download maps and media over Wi-Fi.
* Turn off background refresh for data-heavy apps.
* Use data-saving settings for video and social apps.
* Keep your home SIM from becoming the active data line.
