# Activate Your SimSIM eSIM Before You Fly

> Install your eSIM at home before departure. Scan the QR code, follow the prompts, and land already connected — no airport kiosk required.

After you purchase a plan, SimSIM sends a QR code to your email. You scan that code to install the eSIM profile onto your phone. Do this before you travel — once the profile is installed, the eSIM activates automatically when you arrive in the destination country and your phone connects to the local network.

<Warning>
  Install your eSIM before you leave home. You need a Wi-Fi or mobile data connection to complete the installation. Do not try to activate at the airport without a connection.
